2009 Outing Cancelled

All of us at the Foundation are grateful to those who have been so supportive in the past 5 years, and we hope that everyone is surviving during these difficult economic times.

We have come to a very difficult decision to skip this year's Annual Golf Outing due to the state of our economy, as we feel that it is of vital concern for our supporters to focus on their own economic recovery.

Please note, the LHCRF is just as active, committed and true to our mission as ever. The fight against cancer is just as necessary as it has always been, and with our fingers crossed for an upturn in the economy in 2010, we hope to see you at our outing next year!

We wish you all peace and good health during these challenging times and look forward to seeing you in 2010!

Fifth Annual Golf Outing - August 4, 2008

Thank You to our Friends & Supporters!

We are all so grateful to see everyone again at this year's outing at the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, NY, and of course so pleased to see new faces as well! However, all supporters of the LHCRF contribute so much to the lasting success our foundation is experiencing. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of your graciousness!

The day was filled with sunshine and we all enjoyed a fabulous cocktail hour with our special guests, Alisyn Camerota & Brian Kilmeade, of Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" and Linda Schmidt, of Fox 5 News. Everyone had a wonderful time and we congratulate each of our prize & raffle winners! Please browse our Photo Gallery for pictures of the day.

See you next year!

Fourth Annual Golf Outing - August 6, 2007

Thank You!

Thank you to all of our friends who have contributed to our event this year, and of course to those of you we saw at the outing. Your support this year, and every year, is critical to our tremendous success for which we will always be grateful. A little light rain in the morning during check-in didn't dampen our day as the skies cleared up in time for tee off as well as for our reception and cocktail hour. The Meadow Brook Club is a beautiful course which everyone enjoyed playing. Congratulations to all of our prize and raffle winners! Please browse our Photo Gallery for pictures of the day.

The Jay Monahan Center of Gastrointestinal Health will be holding a Symposium on Colorectal Cancer on Friday, March 2, at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. The LHCRF Clinical Scholar, Dr. Felice Schnoll-Sussman is part of Weill's faculty and additionally, will be conducting a study on Barrett's Esophagus using the effects of green tea. Dr. Schnoll-Sussman is currently enrolling patients for this study which, hopefully, will lead to more advances in the treatment and prevention of this type of cancer. For more information, please view these downloadable files.

LHCRF collaborates with Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health

On December 1, 2005, the LHCRF was presented with a plaque at the Jay Monahan Center for completing our financial commitment toward our first research project in fighting the war against cancer. Katie Couric (formerly of the Today Show and now, the CBS Evening News), Dr. Mark Pochapin (Director, The Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health), and friends of the foundation were present to celebrate this milestone. The first research project was formerly awarded to a researcher at Cornell Hospital in March 2006. (Photo Gallery)

LHCRF 3rd Annual Golf Outing/Card Party - August 7, 2006.

Another wonderfully successful LHCRF Golf Outing/Card Party held at Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, NY on August 7, 2006, yet again proved to be a true testament to the core of why we gathered together on that day: Linda Horowitz and furthering cancer research. This year's outing raised over $250,000, another fantastic year!.

Thanks to all for another successful event. Special thanks to our guest speakers, Ms. Tracy Smith from CBS Saturday Early Show, who shared her heartfelt and personal experience with her father's death due to cancer, and Ms. Rosanna Scotto of FOX 5 News who shared her fond memories of Linda. Also during the cocktail reception, Dr. Felice Schnoll-Sussman shared with us the promising work she is completing as the officially appointed Linda Horowitz Clinical Scholar at the Monahan Center.

All of those who contributed to the day supported the awareness and the action of ensuring funding for important cancer research through the Monahan Center. The need for ongoing support and funding for cancer studies and the need to be closer to decreasing the rate of cancer deaths sustains the old adage, "many hands make quick work." We hope you will join us as another "hand" at our next event.

Please take a moment to browse our photo gallery from the event and the Thank you letter from Cornell University/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Thanks to all who contributed, attended and volunteered their efforts (and to those who were all of the above!) (Photo Gallery | Video).

LHCRF Golf Outing and Card Party
August 2005

Our Second Annual Outing took place once again at the beautiful Glen Oaks Club. At this outing, men and women played golf, and many other women enjoyed playing cards, such as Canasta and Mah Jong, a favorite hobby of Linda's. This outing was even more successful than the prior year's outing and was attended by foundation supporters Katie Couric and actor Kyle McLaughlin. About $464,000 was raised for the foundation, an astonishing feat, and we were able to complete our first financial commitment of $1 million to the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, three years ahead of schedule. LHCRF Golf Outing and Card Party
August 2004

The First fundraiser for the Linda Horowitz Cancer Research Foundation took place at Glen Oaks Club, in Old Westbury, New York. Men and women were able to enjoy 18 holes of golf while women attended a luncheon and played Bridge, Canasta, and Mah Jong. Afterwards, all donors and participants joined for cocktails and a program. About $345,000 was raised for the foundation. (Photo Gallery)

"Beyond the Sea" screening benefiting LHCRF - December 2004

Our second, smaller fundraiser was a screening for the film "Beyond the Sea" starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth. The film was screened at the Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan, followed by an after-party at The Waldorf=Astoria Hotel. The stars of the film were there, and we were able to raise over $22,000 for the foundation.

LHCRF is formed in January 2004

An initial financial contribution of approximately $175,000 was raised when the foundation was formed through generous contributions of friends and family in honor of Linda's memory.
